Author: Victoria Chen (14, MA, USA)

lovey?

The other day my mommy made a pot of soup.
She used my daddy’s leftover soup
and added a few ingredients of her own.
Seaweed, noodles and vegetables all went into the pot.
When I came downstairs to eat,
an eerie, sweet aroma filled my nose.
I thought it smelled crazy.
My daddy thought it smelled delicious.

Clouds by Victoria Chen

Visual Art Response He Left Her after Salvador Dali’s ‘Couple with Heads Full of Cloud’, 1934 Why isn’t he here? Where did he go? One woman, alone, head cocked, resting on a cushion of air: she has no name, no time, or money. She dreams of him every now and again. It’s always the same dream. He sets a table with the softest of tablecloths. He smoothes out all the wrinkles and talks of the feast to come.
